With a background in marine industrial design, Alistair Wood, better known as Al, has raced and cruised trimarans and catamarans for over 25 years, accumulating more than 25,000 miles offshore. This includes a transatlantic passage and two Round Britain races. Over the years, [Name] has had the opportunity to experience some of the most spectacular racing multihulls, from the Extreme 40 to the 110ft Maxicat, reaching speeds of over 40 knots, which ignited a real passion for performance sailing.
When the time for choosing a boat for personal use came, it had to provide the speed and excitement Al was accustomed to from racing, but also offer safety and comfort for cruising with a young family. After careful consideration, there was only one design that could meet these needs: the Dragonfly Trimaran.
After several great seasons with their first Dragonfly, Al was thrilled to accept Jens’ invitation to become the UK dealer back in 2005. Since then Al has enjoyed cruising Dragonfly Trimarans such as the 920, 25 and 28 around the south coast of the UK, racing them with friends, and extensively sailing on the full range of Dragonfly models.
The Dragonfly has proven itself to be a versatile sailing trimaran, excelling in both performance and cruising comfort. With the Dragonfly, Al believes it truly “unfolds your horizons” and offers a remarkable sailing experience, whether racing or cruising.
