Among the many participants in the 2025 edition were Brian and Dorthe from Hedensted, who sailed their Dragonfly 28, ELMO.
For the couple, both passionate sailors, the Garmin Round Denmark Race was more than just a competition – it was a shared adventure.
We sailed doublehanded and shared both the challenges and the experiences. It was fantastic to feel how the boat responded and how well it handled the changing conditions.

The Dragonfly 28 proved to be the ideal choice for the race – light, fast, and stable, yet comfortable enough for five days at sea.
The trimaran’s combination of performance and safety made it perfectly suited for the challenges around Denmark.
It was more of an experience than a real race – We got everything – from calm weather to strong winds, from storms in the dark to magical sunsets. And the boat delivered all the way.

Dragonfly 28 – stable and fast all the way
During the Garmin Round Denmark Race, the Dragonfly 28 was truly put to the test. Both boat and crew had to handle everything from light winds to heavy seas – and ELMO showed its best side.
ELMO felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire trip. We had no technical problems, and everything worked as it should. We sailed really fast when there was plenty of wind and were a bit more challenged in the lighter conditions. We could have used a larger spinnaker, as we lacked a bit of power – especially in the beginning.

A trimaran hardly heels, no matter the wind strength, which makes it much more comfortable to be onboard while sailing.
You can also reduce the beam from 6 meters to 2.55 meters, which makes it possible to use a regular marina berth and transport the boat on a trailer.

680 nautical miles around Denmark – an adventure where both sailor and boat are put to the test through Denmark’s most beautiful and challenging waters.
As always, the race starts in Aarhus, after which the fleet rounds Skagen, sails down through the Kattegat and Øresund, continues around Bornholm and Christians Ø, past Gedser, up through the South Funen Archipelago to Lillebælt – and back to Aarhus.
The Garmin Round Denmark Race can be sailed singlehanded, doublehanded, or fully crewed. Here, adventurers meet speed chasers – and the race offers room for both.

The GRDR Community
To enhance the experience, GRDR focuses strongly on enabling participants to communicate, share experiences, and celebrate highlights together during the race.
We’ve realized how much the social aspect of the race means to participants – even when there are hundreds of nautical miles between boats. Sharing the big and small victories along the way helps create a unique community both before, during, and after the race.
