George Ertsos head of Atalanta Marine, born and raised in Greece, has deep roots in the maritime industry. Starting in his family boatyard at a young age, he specialized in the construction of boats up to 28’. He later studied Economics at the University of Athens, which further fueled his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 1975, at just 20 years old, Ertsos founded Alios Company, capitalizing on the expanding Greek yachting industry. This led to the creation of Atalanta Marine in 1985, a company that would become a market leader in luxury yacht sales and management. In 2006, Ertsos expanded the company’s portfolio by establishing Atalanta Golden Yachts through a collaboration with the Golden Yachts shipyard. This move solidified Atalanta Marine’s position as the top player in the management, sales, and chartering of yachts over 40m.
An avid sailor since 1968, Ertsos competed in a range of boat classes, including Optimists, 420, Lightning, 470, Soling, and Star boats. He won numerous Greek championships and earned international accolades, including 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal at the Balkan races. Notably, Ertsos secured victories at prestigious events such as the International Yachting Weeks in Anzio and Split, and clinched multiple Greek and World Championship titles, including back-to-back World Championship victories in 1988 and 1989 in the ¾ ton yacht class.
Known for introducing luxury yachting to Greece, George Ertsos has maintained high moral and ethical standards throughout his career. As president of Atalanta Marine, he is actively involved in day-to-day operations, sales, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry professionals. His commitment to investing in people and relationships has made him a key figure in Greece’s yachting world.
