Jens Quorning is a professional boat builder and the CEO of Quorning Boats. He began his apprenticeship at Quorning Boats with his father, Børge, in 1978, and has been involved with the yard since its founding in 1967.
Jens took over ownership of Quorning Boats from his parents in 1996, although he had been financially involved since 1991. He oversees sales, design, and the development of new boats, and personally inspects every boat for quality control before delivery.
Jens has dedicated his life to sailing and boat building. After completing his apprenticeship in 1982, he spent a year working in the USA with Dick Newick, which greatly inspired him and influenced Quorning Boats. Jens had the privilege of sailing back from the USA to Europe on the renowned 60’ Newick trimaran “Rouge Wave” with legendary skipper Tom Follett.
At the age of 19, Jens built his first 35’ trimaran, “Quick Step,” in 1981-82. Alongside his older brother Eric, Jens set numerous sailing records in Denmark, including the Round Seeland record and the “Silver Spinnaker-trophy” in 19 hours and 27 minutes in 1983, a record that stood for 25 years.
A keen sailor with a Captain License, Jens has been active in both national and international races since 1975. He has sailed from Los Angeles to Hawaii on a 48’ cruising catamaran and completed an Atlantic crossing, providing him with extensive experience in blue water sailing and ocean crossings.
Jens continues to enjoy cruising and racing, with thousands of miles of sailing experience. Since 2010, he has served as Chairman of the Danish boatbuilding society “Skib & Baad,” which is a member of the DI (Danish Industry) organization.
With over 35 years of experience at Quorning Boats, Jens possesses exceptional expertise in multihull design, construction, and manufacturing.
