Poison arrived on Lake Garda, Italy, in 2022.
I have always sailed and raced high-performance boats, from dinghies to racing catamarans, most recently a Moth and an A-Class. At a certain point I found myself looking for something different. I wanted a boat that could still deliver the excitement of fast, responsive sailing while being easy to handle single-handed, quick to rig, and versatile enough for both racing and relaxed days on the water. And, I have to admit, I also wanted a boat that looked great.
The Dragonfly 25 Sport turned out to be the natural choice.
In stronger winds it gives me many of the sensations I enjoyed on the boats I used to race: responsive, precise, and rewarding to sail well. When the pace slows, it becomes an easy boat to share with friends, making the most of a beautiful day on Lake Garda without ever losing the pleasure of sailing.
Recently my competitive side has returned, so I upgraded the sail plan to race against mixed ORC fleets on Lake Garda. It has been great fun discovering just how competitive the boat can be in that environment while still being the same boat I can take out the next day for a relaxed sail.
That balance is what I appreciate most. It is a boat that can deliver genuine performance when you want to push hard, yet is equally enjoyable when the only goal is to spend a great day on the water.
