Design & Performance

The Dragonfly 35 comes in two versions - the Touring version that is perfect for fast cruising, and, the Ultimate version for those who want extra fun and exiting performance. The Ultimate version is though more challenging and needs earlier reefing.  The boat is the same and the difference lies in the size of the rig and sails only.

The cockpit is very spacious, and as standard the Dragonfly 35 comes with wheel steering. Clever detailing ensures all the lines are in easy reach and for the helmsman a GRP aft rail makes life unusually comfortable. All functions are led back to the cockpit for easy handling of the boat.

A 30 Hp inboard diesel engine with saildrive is located in a separate compartment aft, so the boat is still beachable and also dry out without damaging the folding propeller. The high volume floats provide stowage for all extra sails and even folding bikes etec. A unique (optional)feature is the possibility to stow a full size kayack or surfboard with one-piece mast in the back of the float - making the Dragonfly 35 a really fun boat with lots of toys onboard.

The Dragonfly 35 has full standing headroom of 1.94 m and offers sleeping for full 7 people. Starting foward, you will find a full size enclosed V-berth cabin with lockers for clothing and standing space. Moving aft, there is a full-width toilet section with shower and hanging lockers. Numerous small lockers have been fitted throughout the boat, closed at the front with a tidy wooden roll-top system.

The main cabin offers a large, stylish yet functional galley, with double burner stove and oven combined with ample storage lockers, two drawers and integrated coolbox (optional). The big saloon table sits 8 people for dinner. The saloon table offers good visibility like onboard a deck saloon yacht due to the high seating. Back aft in the main cabin, there is quite a large chart table which works well as home office working space as well. To starboard there is a "wet seat" to sit down briefly before taking off your oilies.

The aft cabin - located directly underneath the cockpit - offers a full size double berth of 2 x 1.50 m, and, although under the cockpit floor, it has sufficient headroom to sit up and is comfy as a double berth.

The Classic interior (optional) offers a roomy dinette that seats 8 persons and can easily convert into bunks, when and if needed, and, sleeps 7 persons in total.

To make handling easier, the Dragonfly 35 can also be offered with electrical winches, windlass and bowthruster, as well as many other electronics to make sailing even easier and more fun. Like on our other Dragonfly models, the Swing Wing system allows the floats to hinge inwards to meet the centre hull - reducing the beam of the boat from massive 8.20 m to 3.85 m and improving versatility, marina fees and your popularity with monohulls sailors. The float folds easily via electrical winch within 50 seconds - using no tools.

The Dragonfly 35 is exciting - a fantastic comfort-safety-perfomance yacht, an enjoyable and practical multihull!

Maintenance

To inform and illustrate recommended service, maintenance, and refitting on an older Dragonfly, we have drawn this general information sheet. Rough elements, like strong winds and wave conditions, strong saltwater and UV do have some impact on the boat after a long sailing life.

We strongly recommend servicing and changing vital parts on your boat according to our recommendations. This information overrules any other former information you may have, as the following is based on updated knowledge.

RIGGING
Visual check of all cables is still required when changing the rigging. When trailering the boat, we strongly recommend focusing on side stay cables, as these easily bend when stepping the mast. Bended side stay cables near the terminal may cause the side stay cable to break.

On all Dragonflys, please regularly check the forestay cable in the top by the terminal. When furling, the spinnaker halyard may block the forestay, which can cause failure of the forestay.

TRAMOLINES
On all Dragonflys, we recommend re-stitching (sewing) along the seems of the trampolines every 6-7 years (in climates with strong UV, every 5 years). Normally, our clients change their trampolines after 10-12 years use.

FLOAT DECK TEFLON PAD RINGS
On Dragonflys built after 1989, the white 5 mm Teflon pad rings on the float deck need to be changed every 13-15 years – this is neither critical nor structural. For easy change of these pads/rings, you just bolt off the floats from the wings.

QUICK-LINKS
Over the years, Quorning Boats has used the riggings links, so-called Quick-Links, in the Dragonfly production. When replacing these, it is of utmost importance to purchase links of same high quality or similar products carrying same strength (working load). Many products look the same, but do not carry the same strength.

ORDERING PARTS
Original parts can be ordered at Quorning Boats at aftersales@dragonfly.dk

Common spare parts can be shipped within two weeks, whereas special parts and/or custom-made parts usually are served within 6-8 weeks.

For orders below EUR 100.- excl. VAT, we charge a handling fee of EUR 15.-

IMPORTANT
Parts ordered at Quorning Boats Denmark, will be produced in originally designed materials. Should you choose to order from other suppliers, please check that the same kind of materials are used – especially on the waterstays and other rigging parts, where stronger Dyeform cables are needed.
