This year sets a new record, as 18 Dragonflys and multihulls in total 31competed in the race. It was a very tough race with 70% of the 135 NM Race upwind in wind conditions up to 35 knots true wind. The weather was extremely cold and rainy throughout the race. Unfortunately, the rather extreme weather conditions meant that rougly 100 out of the 300 boats withdrew from the regatta.
First to cross the finishing line was Jens Quorning in his special One-Off trimaran “Dragonfire”, whereas next 4 boats across the finishing line was a Dragonfly 35, Dragonfly 920 Extreme and then two Dragonfly 28 Sport.
This was also the first time the new Dragonfly 25 should participate in a race, but after the first squall of heavy strong winds, the crew had to pull out due to a problem with the selftacking traveller system.
So this year's regatta around Funen will be remembered for the very rough weather conditions, but also for the many competing Dragonflys and multihulls. It was a delight to the eye to see so many Dragonflys at the same time. You can see results, pictures and videos from the regatta on the Palby Fyn Cup homepage.
