Silverrudder 2021 - Update

Tuesday, September 21, 2021

What a fantastic event – this year’s 10th anniversary of Silverrudder was a great challenge and once again a very well-organized event by the Silverrudder team.

Dragonfly was represented with the highest number of boats in the Multihull category. The Dragonfly fleet did well in both the Multihull small and large category – congratulations to all skippers.

Peter Quorning reports after his sail in the Dragonfly 28 Performance:

"The 10th anniversary of Silverrudder was a fantastic event, well-organized and with great conditions for all participants.

For me it was a fantastic tour around Fyn. The Dragonfly 28 is a fantastic boat to sail singlehanded and did a fantastic job, allowing me to circumnavigate Fyn in a fun and safe way.

After Fyns Hoved, I was unfortunately caught in an unpredictable wind direction and strength, which caused a loss of around 30 minutes.

Otherwise, it was a great tour where I experienced boat speed up to 19 knots. I finished the race in 16 hours, 2 minutes and 7 seconds, the 6th fastest time and another Dragonfly 28 Performance finished the race in 15 hours, 16 minutes and 17 seconds, the 4th fastest time.Simply fantastic. I could not have asked for more."

Unfortunately, there was a capsize of a 1992 Dragonfly 800 shortly after the start. The skipper acted wisely and is in good health and spirit when we talked to him. Fortunately this belongs to the rarities, and we hope that the skipper will be back on the water again soon.

Thank you for all the cheering, support and comments - we look forward to meeting all skippers again at Silverrudder 2022.
